Prevent fozen water pipes: do not leave your garage door open
Keep your thermostat set above 65 derees when you leave home for several days
Keep open cabinet doors leading to exposed ipes (such as access doors for sinks), so that household air can warm them.
If your pipes freeze, immediately turn off water, try to defrost pipes and contact a trusted plumber.
Know the location of your water shut-off valve in your home and keep accesible the curb stop valve outside. Quick access by you as a homeowner inside and an accessible curb stop valve for the District to access outside will aid quick response if a pipe breaks.
